MDT Announces Mid-October for Closure; May Come Sooner Depending on Weather
Dependent on the weather in the next few weeks, you have until October 13, 2026, to enjoy the Beartooth Highway. The MDT made the announcement through social media adding that "pass may close earlier than planned due to weather or other unforeseen factors."

The MDT also offers ways to track the latest on status of the Beartooth Highway and all of the state of Montana through the 511mt website. You can learn more about it and track closures here.
