I'm not really a contest type of person, but there are some annual one's that I generally keep an eye on.  Not so much for the chance to win something, but more for the creativity and fun that it brings out in everyone.

Contests like the Governor's Youth Essay are one of my favorites each year as youth explore more of the history and future of our state with their writing ability.  But there are less serious one's as well; like naming a snowplow.

Winter Spirit Returns with Montana Department of Transportation

Once again in 2026, the Montana Department of Transportation will be holding the annual Snowplow Naming Contest for residents of Montana, or really anyone with a internet connection and a little creativity.

This year the MDT agency will be looking for names for twenty snowplows for the 2026-2027 winter season on Montana roadways.  The contest is open to anyone, and will close on Septmember 30, 2026.

How to Enter the MDT Name a Snowplow Contest for Bragging Rights in 2026

The Montana Department of Transportation said that two snowplows in each of the maintenance areas will receive new names this year courtesy of the public's input.  Winners get bragging rights for one year during the winter of 2026.
