It won't be long before you will start to see that familiar fall fashion across Montana. The fashionable golf short will soon be replaced by camouflage and hunter orange.
And instead of sunscreen and bug spray for our favorite cologne each day, you may not smell us at all, (hopefully) or there will be a really, really pungent smell that will permeate every fiber of the laundry basket prior to washing.

Know The Regulations to Avoid any Problems on Your Montana Hunt
Before the hunt, make sure you have your gear, licenses and know the area that you are hunting, whether it be public or private. Always ask for permission from a landowner before crossing fences or accessing their land.
For most, September 7, 2024, will mark the start of hunting season across Montana, although the Upland Game Bird season opens on September 1, 2024, including:
- Mountain Grouse
- Partridge
- Pheasant
- Sage Grouse (only open until September 30, 2024)
- Sharp-tailed Grouse
- Fall Turkey Season

Archery Season Begins, General Season to Follow in Montana
Starting on September 7, 2024, archery season kicks off across Big Sky Country.
The season includes all major game in Montana, including elk, moose, deer, bear, bighorn sheep, mountain goat and mountain lion.
