
Staggering Number of Drugs Found by Montana HP in 2024
- The Montana Highway Patrol had an incredibly busy and successful year in 2024 for drug seizures
- In all, the agency seized nearly 500 pounds of illicit drugs in 2024 across Montana highways and interstates
- 5 major drugs were cited in the release including cocaine, heroin and fentanyl
Staggering Number of Drugs Found by Montana HP in 2024
Despite seeing numbers rise for drug arrests in Montana (see below 👇) there have also been downturns to the amounts of illicit drugs.

That's due in part to the Montana Highway Patrol seizing and keeping those bad drugs from reaching the hands of those that seek them.

Between K9 Units and Boots on the Ground, Montana is Safer
As we reported earlier this year, some of the initial numbers released by the department were pretty staggering and included over $200,000 in cash and 21 weapons seized by K9 Units in the state.

Those numbers included various scenarios, including drugs coming into our airports that required the use of specialized dogs.
Several Hundred Pounds of Drugs Seized by MHP in 2024 on Highways
For the Montana Highway Patrol, it would appear that it was a pretty busy year in 2024. Drug seizure totals for the agency were released on Thursday this week.
Total numbers for the 2024 year include:
- 88,624 Fentanyl pills and 1.07 pounds of powder
- 129.68 pounds of Methamphetamine
- 16.57 pounds of Cocaine
- 12.46 pounds of Heroin
- 311.8 pounds of Marijuana
