New Sweetgrass Project a Group Effort at GFCMSU
An all-new project has finally been completed and installed at the Great Falls College Montana State University to help Native American students both in education and ceremonial use.
Sweetgrass is an important part of Native American tradition that continues today. Now, those students will have the ability to harvest their own with the help of several groups in Great Falls.

Groups Coming Together to Make Dreams Happen in Great Falls
At Great Falls College MSU, there has been a need for accessible sweetgrass for educational and ceremonial use. Two student ambassadors from the Native & Indigenous Cultural Center recognized that need and contacted the Student CARE Office.

Wooden planter boxes were then built by the Build Montana groups with the college and with Great Falls Public Schools. Johnson Madison Lumber Company generously donated the lumber for the planters.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Placement of Planters at Great Falls College MSU
After construction of the planter boxes, the GFCMSU held a ribbon cutting ceremony to install them.
Volunteers from the groups involved and students from the college prepped each planter box.
Once installed, sweetgrass was planted.
