For kids that grew up in a ranching community, certain things that other kids might consider fun or even entertaining most likely were in some form of a chore for me. For instance, growing up I rode a snowmobile at probably six or seven years old most of the winter months.
But that "recreational outing" if you will, was more about feeding cattle, chopping ice from water tanks and in some cases, simply to get to where a bus could grab me and take me to school each day.
I would much rather have been riding with a new club that just formed as part of the Montana Snowmobile Association (MSA). The new group is hoping to inspire youth to enjoy not just summers recreation in Montana, but also the winter fun that can be found.

New Club for Montana Youths Wants to Inspire a Passion for Riding
The MSA has announced a new official youth program in the state, the Montana RidgeRunners Youth program. MSA said the new group is focused on being "dedicated to inspiring the next generation through education, mentorship, leadership and outdoor adventures."

Youth will be able to gain firsthand knowledge from experienced riders about how Montana's Snowmobile and Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) community functions. That includes local clubs, the MSA and even national level areas or groups.
Group Focused on Winter Recreation in 2026 - More Expected to Come in 2027
For now, Montana RideRunners Youth Program will be focused on the upcoming winter season. But glancing through their social media page, it wouldn't be a stretch to see even more coming in the next year for the group.
