Hunting a Bison in Montana - How to Enter Now

Growing up in a hunting family, there were certain game animals that we always were after.  Mainly deer and birds.  And we knew how hard it was to have your name drawn for the chance at an elk, moose, goat or sheep.

Those were the big ones that we looked forward to.  But now there is an opportunity to draw what I would consider the grandaddy of tags in Montana.  The chance to hunt a bison in our state.

Guided Trophy Bison Hunt on the Blackfeet Reservation

In Montana there are 4 different opportunities to enter the drawing for a guided trophy bison hunt on the Blackfeet Reservation.

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks (MFWP) teams with the Blackfeet Reservation to offer the hunt to all hunters including:

  • tribal members, non-members, Montana residents, and non-residents

Chances for the hunt are $10 each, with no limit on how many chances you can purchase.  Hunters will have a 3-week harvest window starting the following day of the drawing.

Successful hunters of the guided trip will be able to keep the head and the hide along with the meat from the animal.  Better make some room in the freezer if you get are the lucky winner.  Or, if needed, drop some off at our studios!  Good luck!
