Luminaria Walk 2026 in Great Falls to be Held in August
As someone who has lived most of their adult life in the Electric City, I've seen some amazing things come to life in Great Falls. As such, I can remember when the River's Edge Trail was just that; a trail that was tended by one man in a white van with a weed eater and a pair of gloves.
Since that first pull of the cord on a lawnmower and shovel of gravel, the trail has become a jewel in the city's crown; featuring over 70 miles of asphalt and trail to traverse along the Missouri River all year long.

Most of us are probably more used to using the trail during the daylight hours of the year, but the trail is an entire new world of views during the later hours of the day, when the sun sets and the moonlight begins.

In August, the annual Luminaria Walk does exactly that, offering a new perspective of the city with over 1,500 luminarias on display. The event highlights and "is to celebrate the world-class trail we have here in Great Falls, Montana" according to the River's Edge Trail Foundation.
