One of Montana’s Most Popular Dive Bars Will Close Down
One of the most iconic dive bars will be closing its doors, and it's a piece of Montana history going away.
Many Montanans will head to their favorite bar to relax and have an adult beverage after a long day or week at work. Most folks will avoid upscale bars for their prices or college spots to ditch the rowdy crowd.
So where do you go for a drink? Dive bars.
Dive bars are laid-back, affordable, and simple places to hang out and have a beer. Many of Montana's most popular bars are dive bars. You can find a dive bar in the largest cities or the smallest towns of Big Sky Country.
They are some of the best places to have a drink.
Well, one of Montana's most iconic dive bars will be closing its doors after over 80 years of business, and it's heartbreaking.
The Helena Independent Record reports that The Corner Bar in Helena will shut down on Tuesday, March 5th.
The bar first opened in 1937 under the name The Pepperbox but has been a local staple of Helena for generations.
Why are they closing? The bar owner sold the liquor license and plans on selling the building. Why did they sell? Details are still coming out, but the liquor license will be for a new restaurant opening in Helena.
You would think the bar would have historical significance and stand the test of time, but sadly, it won't happen.
I've been lucky enough to have a few drinks at The Corner Bar when my siblings went to Carroll College, and it's a place where everyone comes together to have fun and kick back.
The Corner Bar will be missed dearly by locals in the Helena area.
