A Community Tradition: Candy Cane Lane In Great Falls
Christmas Is Coming
With Christmas just around the corner it's time to start talking about Candy Cane Lane.
The Story Of Candy Cane Lane In Great Falls
In 2015, a lot of people were driving through Riverview Drive East to look at all of the Christmas lights. Anthony and Nikki Davalos started handing out hot cocoa to passing vehicles where were there to see the lights. The first year, they served up 50 cups of cocoa to the light peepers and they brought the rest to the gate guards at Malmstrom.

Now Candy Cane Lane Is A Custom For Many Families In Great Falls
In the years that followed, the Davalos' took the event city wide.
- A group of volunteers brave the cold for handing out hot cocoa and maps to registered homes.
- Vote for the cross town competition. Will the winner be the North West side of town's Grinchville, or Abominable Town on the South East side of Great Falls? You decide
- Now there's even a coloring competition. One winner will be chosen from the pictures and made into the Candy Cane Lane sticker for that year
- They offer a special ornament every year for $5
- In 2023 Candy Cane Lane created their own non-profit, CommUNITY Matters
- The event is always free. You are welcome to make a donation, that will go back into the Great Falls community
Candy Cane Lane is set for December 14, 2025, starting at Jaycee Park.
And don't forget Nightmare Before Candy Canes, a map for trick or treaters in Great Falls. JD wrote an article about it a couple of months ago. Check it out here.
