Is Something Sinister Happening in Montana’s Skies?
Most of us would agree that one of the most beautiful things about Montana is the sky. Sure, we have amazing rivers, mountains, and beautiful open plains... but that Montana sky? One-of-a-kind.
That beauty makes it easy to understand why Montanans might be extra protective of their skies.
What's Going On in the Skies of Montana?
When hanging out in my backyard the other day cooking up some food on the grill, I looked up and noticed a familiar scene in the sky.
Whether you call them chemtrails or contrails, one thing's for sure - they're appearing in our skies.
But why are people protective of these things appearing in our skies?
Why Are People Angry at 'Chemtrails'?
There are several theories across the internet about contrails or as they call them, "chemtrails." There are even groups like GeoEngineering Watch with seemingly endless content about how bad "chemtrails" are for the environment and us.

Groups like these allege the government is poisoning our skies to keep us sick, controlling our weather, and/or all of the above.
According to one video on the site for GeoEngineering Watch, they pose the question: "Shouldn’t they have a responsibility to help expose and halt what is taking place in our skies? If not stopped soon, nothing else will matter."
But what are they really called? And are those things as bad for you as these groups claim?
Are They Called Chemtrails or Contrails?
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), they're officially called "contrails" and aren't as harmful as you might think.
"The FAA and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are not aware of any deliberate actions to release harmful chemical or biological agents from airplanes into the atmosphere," the FAA says on their site.
"The FAA will take appropriate actions to address any substantiated claims."
So, what are they really? Well, according to the FAA:
Condensation trails (contrails) are ice crystals formed from the condensation of airplane engine exhaust water vapor onto both naturally occurring particles in the atmosphere and particles emitted from the engine, typically at airplane cruise altitudes.
See? All better. Nothing to worry about!
No weather control or keeping us sick here in Montana...
...right?
