These New TSA Rules Are Impacting Montana Travelers
TSA’s Adds New Items To Their Ban List
Does anyone else miss the days of flying out of Montana before September 11th, 2001?
I didn't fly a lot - I was a poor 23 year old DJ - but I did fly enough times that I remember you basically just walked in, bought a ticket, and flew to your destination.

Modern Air Travel: Stress, Security, And Restrictions
A bit of an exaggeration, but nowadays you have to be at the airport far in advance just to check in, strip down practically to your underwear, and be told you can’t pack this or that.
If it wasn't so much faster to travel long distances, I'm not sure I'd ever fly again, and now TSA has banned even more items from being stowed in your luggage.
TSA’s New Ban On Items in Checked Luggage
According to USA Today, the TSA has begun to ban the following hair care items from your checked luggage.
They include
- Cordless curling irons or flatirons containing gas cartridges
- Butane-fueled curling irons or flat irons
- Gas refills (spare cartridges) for curling irons or flat irons
Okay, first off, I had no idea a curling iron could use butane. My experience with them is with lighters, and not just any kind, but all-weather lighters.
It makes sense these items have been banned since these gas and butane cartridges are highly pressurized and could cause some serious damage in the cargo hold.
What You Can Still Pack On A Plane
Thankfully you are still allowed to pack these cordless ones in your carry-on, and corded ones will still be allowed to be in your checked luggage.
While it might be more work for you when packing, it makes sense; however, the following items you are allowed to bring on a plane make very little sense.
