Police Impersonation Cases Raise Safety Concerns
It seems ridiculous that anyone would think impersonating a police officer would be a smart idea.
It seems like an even worse idea to go around pulling people over while acting like a police officer.
However, as social media has shown us, there is no shortage of people willing to do things they know are illegal or stupid if they think it'll gain them some attention.
So how do you protect yourself from being a victim of someone impersonating an undercover police officer in an unmarked car?

How To Identify An Unmarked Police Car
There are actually a few telltale signs that you can watch out for to help identify an unmarked car.
First look for flashing lights that are more than likely on the dash, not on top of the car. Second look for the "exempt" license plates.
Finally, they'll most likely be driving an American-made car.
Now, what if you suspect that the person trying to pull you over is not a real police officer? What do you do then?
First, stay calm and find a well-lit area to pull over to. Second, call 911 and inform them of the situation; often times they'll be able to confirm that this person is an actual officer.
Next, verify the officer's identity by keeping your doors locked and your window only partially rolled down, asking for a badge number and identification or for a marked patrol car to come to the scene for confirmation.
If they do all that, the final step is to comply, as you're more than likely dealing an actual officer.
