Montana Ranks In The Bottom 10 For Safest States
Just How Safe Is Montana?
Perhaps I have my head in the sand, but if you were to ask me, I'd say Montana is a very safe state in which to live and raise your family.
According to research done by WalletHub, Montana is actually one of the least safest states in America.

Where Does Montana Rank For Safest States?
To determine the ranking of the safest states in America, WalletHub used 52 key indicators of safety metrics.
They are then grouped into 5 different categories: Personal & Residential Safety, Financial Safety, Road Safety, Workplace Safety, and Emergency Preparedness.
We already know they placed Montana in the bottom 10, but just what was the ranking for the Big Sky state?

Montana is the 42nd Least Safest State In America
As I mentioned earlier, perhaps I am sticking my head in the sand, but Montana being ranked 42nd is crazy to me.
Here are all the rankings for the 5 categories that determined the overall ranking:
- Personal & Residential Safety: 38
- Financial Safety: 12
- Road Safety: 35
- Workplace Safety: 41
- Emergency Preparedness: 32
It looks as if the only positive from this is we look pretty good for financial safety, which means low unemployment, a low population of uninsured, along with employment growth.
Once again, I feel Montana gets dinged due to the use of "per capita" and our low population skews the data, but either way, being this low is not a good look, and hopefully we can improve our standings in the years to come.
