Items Remain Locked at Popular Walgreens Stores in Montana

In general terms, change is a good thing.  But a change in recent years while shopping seems to be becoming a much larger inconvenience.  Many stores in our little town, or state and across the country are locking things up.

And it isn't high dollar items exclusively anymore.  Common items that we find in our homes are now behind lock and key.  I mean really, we need to keep the toothpaste locked up now in our fair city.

Walgreens Will Continue with Policy Despite Losses in Sales

In a new article via CNN, a Walgreens spokesperson said that despite a dip in sales because of items being locked up, the policy will continue to deter shoplifting in the stores.

Even as more people complain about the extra time it takes to have an item retrieved for them; Walgreens will soldier on with the policy.  Small, expensive items are the hottest for criminals at many stores across the country.

What Items will Still Be Under Lock at Montana Locations?

As Walgreens is a style of drug store, most of those items that are being lifted from shelves are common items in our bathrooms and homes.

Items targeted by thieves include:

  • Electric toothbrushes
  • Deodorant
  • Toothpaste
  • Over-the-counter medication
  • Contraceptives
