Since early spring, parents and athletes have been waiting for the announcement of who would be replacing Coach Jerry Schmiltz of the Great Falls High School Lady Bison basketball team after his recent retirement after 11 seasons at the helm.

That wait hasn't taken very long, with the Great Falls Public Schools Athletic Department announcing a familiar recommendation for the coaching position, hailing from just outside of Great Falls and bringing state championship knowledge with her.

Former Belt Star Chosen to Lead Lady Bison Basketball

The GFHS and GFPS Athletic Departments have announced that Kassie Dixon will be recommended as the next Head Girls Basketball Coach at Great Falls High School pending school board approval.

Coach Dixon is a familiar face in the halls and on the court at the school, having spent the past 4 season with the Lady Bison as an assistant coach.  Dixon also serves as a member of the school's faculty, teaching AP Calculus, Anatomy & Physiology, and Biology.

Strong Roots in Central Montana with Championships at State Level

Ms. Dixon brings with her an outstanding career as a player in both high school and collegiate basketball.  Dixon won 3 state championships with the Belt Huskies and went on to Sheridan College before ending her eligibility after 4 years with the Black Hills State College in South Dakota.
