Invention of Curling, We Need to Thank a Scot in Montana
According to Wikipedia, some of the very first signs of curling were in Scotland when a pond was drained. Locals found "stones" used in curling with dates of 1511 on them. The very first curling club, formed in 1791, is still active to this day.
Curling was officially added to the Olympics in 1998, with Canada being one of the main forces that has consistently won medals in each of the games.
Each team includes 4 people, with 3 competing on each throw of the rock. Sweepers help get the stone to the house to score points.
On a side note, regarding the stones used in the competitions, they only come from two places in the world. An island of the coast of Scotland and a peninsula located in Wales.
