Water is everything when it comes to your tree.  And of course, heat is the enemy, causing your tree to dry out prematurely.  Which means that keeping it far from fireplaces and vents is extremely important.  Even that large picture window showing off your tree can cause it to dry out early from direct sun.

Tips to Help Maximize the Life of Your Montana Christmas Tree

To help extend the life of your tree, a few easy tips can make the holiday last all the way into the upcoming new year.  To start, pick a healthy tree.  Test the limbs and branches for dryness.  Does it bend or snap?  If it snaps, or the needles start falling off, avoid it and move on.

Other tips that can help maximize your tree staying fresh include:

  • Cut a fresh half inch of the trunk off before placing in your stand or base
  • Keep your tree stand water full at all times
  • Choose a stand that offers a larger bowl for water
  • Set reminders for keeping up on watering your tree often

Another easy way to keep your tree from drying out is to make the change from your old lights to the latest LED technology.  It will even help keep your power bill in check during the holiday season.
