Tangled Tinsel and Twisted Tape: Confessions of a Gift-Wrapping Klutz

'Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la, and fumble with the wrapping paper like never before. If there's an award for being all thumbs when it comes to gift wrapping, I'd have a mantel full of them by now. Picture this: a wrapping paper battlefield, where tape and scissors are my arch nemeses, and ribbons mock me from the sidelines.

The struggle begins the moment I attempt to measure the right amount of paper. It's like trying to calculate the trajectory of a rocket – there's a lot of guesswork involved, and the end result is often explosive. The scissors, instead of being my trusty sidekick, transform into a mischievous imp, zigzagging through the paper like it's a maze. I end up with edges that look like they've been chewed on by Santa's reindeer.

Then comes the tape, that sticky villain with a mind of its own. It either disappears entirely, leaving me in a frantic search, or it unrolls faster than the speed of sound, sticking to everything but the wrapping paper. I find myself in a tape tango, arms flailing, and gifts resembling modern art installations rather than neatly wrapped packages.

So, as I embark on my annual gift-wrapping odyssey, I make sure to have someone else do the wrapping for me.  Plus, I am helping out a local organization.  It doesn't get much easier than that.
