Even though Montana the state is much older, it's only been within the last 50 years that we have had a history consortium in our state.  Started in 1974, the group aims to keep track of our history in the state and counties, and update many of the archives that are housed at the state history museum in Helena, Montana.

This year, the party is about to get started in our capital city and you can attend!

Joining In on the 50th Anniversary of the Annual Montana History Conference

As the conference gets ready to celebrate 50 years of service to the state, the gathering will be, according to their website, a collective experience:

to explore underrepresented facets of regional history. To recognize that the past is a continuum and its people, events, successes, and failures perpetually affecting our present and future. With this year’s “Building on the Past” theme, we’ll continue to bridge the past, present, and future. Through lectures, panel and roundtable discussions, tours, and workshops. All on an array of fascinating topics that encourage introspection
