Partial Closure of Popular Fishing Access in Great Falls
When you consider the seasons in Montana, you probably think those seasons are linked with specific activities. Golf and hiking for the warmer months, skiing, snowmobiling, and hunting for the colder times.
But one of those activities that we enjoy in the state can happen year-round. Getting to your favorite fishing spot is only limited by perhaps some snow or mud. Or limited by improvements, which is happening at this location near Great Falls.

The river access area is maintained by the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region 4 Office. Recently the MFWP announced a temporary, partial closure of the access area for needed improvements.
Closure is Only Temporary, Area Will Be Back in Early November
The closure of White Bear Fishing Access took effect on October 24th, 2024. The area is closed through November 8, 2024, to allow contractors to continue their work on a site improvement project.
According to MFWP:
The next phase of the project will include development of the accessible trail loops on the north and south portions of the property and improvements to the parking lot. During this time the parking lot will be closed but walk in access to the site will be permitted.
