Want To Live in a Train Car in Montana?

As you make your way west in the state of Montana, just before you hit the last major city before crossing the border to Idaho, you will find the small town of Bonner.  The area has amazing breathtaking views everywhere you look, with streams, wildlife and everything you would expect to find in Big Sky Country.

One of the more unique, perhaps even odd things you will also find just out of the town is a 1925 Pullman railroad car that is converted into a home.  And it just so happens to also be for sale.

Montana Western Themes Complete with Furnishings

Listed via Coldwell Banker Regent Realty MT, the train car has been refurbished as recently as 1998.  It features 3 bedrooms with 3 partial bathrooms in 900 square feet, with a kitchen, dining area and office area.

The car was originally built in 1925, and is a Pullman-Standard 3 compartment, 2-drawing room/Observation Lounge (TCRY 106).  The rooms are adorned in a western theme, including antler horn lighting fixtures, oak paneling with various brands burned into them.

What Would You Do with This Piece of Montana Railroad History?

With an asking price of $249,000 this almost seems to me like a steal for someone to invest in.  Especially given the location and the pricing of land in the area and valley.  Some of the proposed uses of the home from the listing include:

  • Vacation Home
  • Rental
  • Tourist Attraction

What would you do with this unique piece of railroad history?  Keep it and live in it?  Airbnb it?  Move it somewhere?  The current owner even states they would be willing to help facilitate the move.  Anyone have a flatbed trailer I can use?
