Funny thing about tailgate parties, at least for myself, I didn't realize I had attended so many through the years.
It isn't that I don't remember them, it's more that on the ranch where I grew up, we just called it lunch.
But I digress. The tailgate parties we are here to talk about don't involve cattle and horses, unless of course you are cooking the first and the second is the mascot of your favorite team.
College Football Gets Underway, So Does the Party Across Campuses in Montana
One of the best aspects of hitting the parking lot early at any college game is the tailgate parties that abound. Just check the fan pages of any college abroad or right here in Montana and you will see an entire gamut of folks enjoying a little "pre-gaming" fun.
But there are some essentials that everyone should have to have the ultimate tailgate party, even in your own backyard with a big screen.

Are Tickets Really That Important in Montana or Anywhere?
In a survey done by the Weber Grill company, half of those surveyed said that a ticket to the game wasn't in their top 5 things to have to head to the game. Come to think of it, I don't think I had a ticket to the last game I went to in Bozeman. Doh!
So, what are the essentials? According to Weber, the top 5 things that are a must have at any tailgate party are:
- Your grill
- Food to cook
- Your cooler
- Chairs
- Alcoholic beverages
