
Montana Guardsman Hit Bullseye at Recent National Competition
There is an old saying that is most commonly heard around the campfire during the Montana hunting season. And while it may seem a tad unrefined to those that don't hunt, it is a rule many of us were taught.
One shot. One kill. Plain and simple. The ability to do so requires practice at the range and sending many rounds down the barrel of your gun. That mentality runs in our home state military as well, as Montana Guardsman recently displayed in Arkansas at a national championship.

Montana Guardsman Compete at Small Arms Championship with 53 Teams
The 55th Annual Winston P. Wilson Small Arms Championship was recently held in Little Rock, Arkansas, and features 53 teams from across the nation and several allied partner countries competing in it.

For Montana, eight team members were selected from the Army and National Guard for their excellence in small arms and represented the state in two teams. Those teams competed in "combat‑realistic marksmanship events—reinforcing readiness, precision, and teamwork at the highest level" according to the social media post.

Montana Guardsman Hit Bullseye at Recent National Competition
Once the smoke cleared on the range, Montana teams walked away with several awards, including an overall 7th place finish for the members of the A Team. Individual awards were also given to several members of the teams.
According to the release, honors were also given to:
- Sgt. Johnson placing in the top 10% of the Combat Pistol Excellence Match
- strong rifle finishes from Sgt. Slavinsky
- top Novice Class placements from Sgt. Illies and Sgt. Schultz
