
Montana Person Awaits Charges in Animal Abuse Case in Eureka
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office in Libby, Montana is finally releasing details on an animal welfare case after an investigation led authorities to seize dogs, rabbits, chickens and more from a property.
The initial case began in June when authorities received a tip of a possible animal welfare case located in the small town of Eureka, in the northwestern area of the state.
Now, more than 40 animals have been seized from the property of the Montana individual.

On June 27, 2026, a concerned citizen contacted the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office in regard to a possible animal neglect case. Authorities immediately began an investigation, leading to three weeks of information and detail gathering.

A search warrant for the property was applied for and granted, with officers being instructed to "search the property in question, document any evidence found" and to "seize any animals found on the property."

Authorities Find Over 40 Animals Including Ponies at Property in NW Montana
Several agencies were on hand to execute the warrant on July 17, 2026, including officers from the Eureka Police Department, deputies from Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Border Patrol agents.
In total, over 50 animals were seized by authorities, including:
- 40 dogs including Pomeranians, huskies and mixed breeds
- 2 ponies
- 2 chickens
- 2 rabbits
- 1 goat
- 4 cats
Investigation Continues with Lincoln County Attorney's Office to Decide Outcome
The animals seized at the property were evaluated and treated by a veterinarian; the owner has since surrendered ownership of them. The animals are now being in the process of being rehomed. The case is now in the hands of the Lincoln County Attorney's Office who will decide whether to press charges against the owner of the seized animals.
