Maren Morris joined the bill of the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Wednesday night (Aug. 21), adding her performance to a lineup that already included Mickey Guyton, Jason Isbell and more.

During Morris' Wednesday night performance, she shared a rendition of her 2020 ballad "Better Than We Found It." Morris originally wrote that song as a love letter to her then-infant son Hayes, and as a response to the global events of that year, including the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and the galvanized civil rights protests that followed police shootings of Black civilians like George Floyd.

During her performance at the DNC, Morris took the stage in a white blazer, delivering a simple, heartfelt rendition of her song. She shared a recap of the night on social media, including a shot of the venue on her Instagram Stories, saying she was "honored" to be there.

Morris isn't the only last-minute surprise the DNC has in store. CNN reports that the Chicks will perform the national anthem on Thursday (Aug. 22) to kick off the final night of the convention, which will feature a speech from Vice President and presumed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

Of course, the Chicks have a long history of being open about their left-leaning political views, including their infamous 2003 criticism of then-sitting president George W. Bush. They also performed during the DNC's virtual conference in 2020.

Most Politically Outspoken Artists in Country Music

Not every country singer chooses to keep politics and music separate. Some of country music's biggest stars use both their music and their public platforms to promote the sociopolitical agendas they believe in -- and in some cases, attack those who disagree.
