How Did Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Meet?

Brooks and Yearwood first met in 1987. Both were young artists trying to land a record deal and make a name for themselves in Nashville. For the next 13 years the two remained friends and supported each other's career.

In addition to appearing on stage together a handful of times, they provided vocals for one another: Brooks sang backup on her self-titled debut album in 1991 and Yearwood's voice can be heard on his Ropin' the Wind album, which was released the same year.

Yearwood and Brooks won a Grammy for best country collaboration for their duet "In Another's Eyes." The song, their first duet, was featured on Yearwood's 1997 album (Songbook) A Collection of Hits.

When Did Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Get Married?

The powerhouse couple went public with their relationship in 2002. Brooks proposed to Yearwood in May 2005 and the two said "I do" in a small ceremony outside of Tulsa, Okla. on Dec. 10 of that same year.
