IT WAS UNVEILED ON THIS DAY. WAS IT A GOOD THING?
It was on January 9, 2007 that the world may have changed forever. On this date, Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone. What was so great about it? It put a fingertip touch screen, a camera and the internet all in the palm of your hand. And the rest was history.
To this day, the iPhone is the best selling gadget ever created. It is estimated that nearly three-billion iPhones have been sold since it started production in 2007. It is estimated that Apple makes around 200-billion dollars year on the iphone. It accounts for over 50% of their sales today.
The original iPhone was also quite different than it looks today. It was actually, small just 4.5 inches by 2.4 inches. Today, the iPhone is bigger and stands at over six inches.
The iPhone is also responsible for many other things. Like drones, smart-home gadgets and self-driving cars.
How big of an impact does the iPhone have on people today? For many, it is the only computer they use today. it is estimated that over 800-million iPhones are still being used right now. It is also the only camera that many people have today. Today it also includes GPS, a music player, trip planner and a payment tool right in the palm of your hand.
The iPhone is also responsible for an entire new industry, the app.
But there are questions today. Was the iPhone invention a good thing? Some might say it has ruined relationships and verbal communication between people. Others say it has eaten into productive time at work?
Either way, my guess is it is here to stay and will continue to be a big part of our lives. I wonder what the next big invention will be?
