As technology continues to improve, so will the methods of digital crime. Whether we like it or not, there will always be a correlation between advancing tech and technological crime.

We've seen it more and more frequently with the advent of AI and of course, data breaches.

Back-To-Back Data Breaches Brought AT&T To Its Knees

Back in 2024, two separate "Data Incidents" were reported by AT&T which led to a multitude of lawsuits that were eventually led toa massive action lawsuit. As a result, both incidents each have their own class settlements for those affected by either.

According to TelecomDataSettlement.com, the first AT&T Settlement Class is for those who had a "combination of names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, account passcodes, billing account numbers, and Social Security numbers" stolen in the breach.

Elements in the second AT&T Settlement Class include "telephone numbers of current and former AT&T customers, including, but not limited to, Account Owners or Line Users."

The Deadline Is Approaching For You To Get Your Claim Money From AT&T

For the first settlement class, you'll be able to file to receive the money you lost up to $5,000 in 2019 or later as a result from the breach or you could opt to receive a pro rata share of the cash, "which are the funds left after payment of Settlement Administration Costs, Attorneys’ Fees, Costs, and Service Awards" according to the site for the settlement.
