Pasta Recall At Albertson’s and Safeway: Do Montanans Need To Worry?
UPDATE 10/6/2025: This recall has been expanded to include Kroger Stores like Smiths. They also received bowtie pasta from the same provider that supplied the pasta to Albertson's stores. Check the recall page linked above for affected products and dates to be on the lookout for.
--Original Story--
There's been another recall issued for pasta dishes, also over listeria concerns.
You might have already seen the article by my co-worker, Chris Cards, about a health alert centering on pre-made pasta dishes sold at WalMart and Trader Joe locations across the country.
What's been recalled this time?
Well, I found another pasta recall, this time for store-made pasta dishes sold at supermarkets under the Albertson's brand, which includes Safeway and of course, Albertson's, among others. Specifically, dishes made with bowtie pasta have been recalled in this case.
You can find pictures of the various labels of the recalled products on the link above.
Are the two recalls connected?
So far, there's no hard proof one way or the other that the two recalls are connected. It's just the fact that both recalls involve pasta and listeria.
As with any food recall, if you have any of the recalled food, don't eat it. Throw it out. In addition to the symptoms Chris listed in his article, it's also recommended that if you think you purchased a product contaminated with listeria, do a serious clean of your refrigerator and counters, because listeria can survive refrigeration.
As of this writing, it doesn't look like the bad pasta was shipped to or used at any stores in Montana. Also, unlike the WalMart pasta recall, there haven't been any illnesses or deaths reported in connection with this recall as of yet, but why take the chance?
