Over One Million Countertop Ovens Recalled Due to Burn Hazard
I have a new appliance recall for everyone.
Sunbeam Products has announced a recall of over one million countertop ovens due to the possibility of users getting burned by the device.
What's going on?
The issue, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, is that the doors on the oven can close unexpectedly, leading to burns.
What do I need to look for?
The ovens in question are sold under the Oster brand name. The doors are French style, so we're talking two doors that open wide. Pictures can be found on the web page for the recall, linked above.
There are four models covered under this recall. If you have a countertop oven and want to see if yours is one of the affected models, look on the back side of the oven. You're looking for models TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDG, TSSTTVFDMAF and TSSTTVFDDAF.
If you have one of the recalled ovens, it is highly recommended that you don't use it, at least not right away. However, you don't have to get rid of the oven (unless you really want to). If you contact Sunbeam/Oster and verify that you have one of the models above, they will send a free repair kit with instructions and parts to help keep the doors from shutting when you don't want them to.
So far, around one hundred injuries have been reported in connection with these ovens, which were sold online and at major retailers between 2015 and 2025 to the tune of one point three million ovens sold between the four models.
