At one point when I was a kid, I wanted to be a stand-up comedian. I remember watching reruns of old New York Friars Club roasts of people like Johnny Carson and Dean Martin.

My grandpa even bought me a Friars Club joke book that I tried to memorize so I could make my friends laugh.

Can A Robot Be Funny?

So while I love comedy and roasts, I never thought of AI being something that could replace a human when it came to making jokes.

One of the most important things about a roast is that it comes from the heart. Sure, the jokes on the surface sound petty and mean, but they're coming from a place of love.

So could artificial intelligence successfully roast Great Falls? Well, I gave Chat GPT a very simple prompt, "Act as a comedian at a roast. Roast the city of Great Falls, Montana." These are the results, and remember, this is just for fun.

I have to admit, our AI comedian came out swinging on this first one.

I know some of you out there have to be shaking your heads in agreement on this one.

Great Falls will without a doubt harden you if you live here long enough.

Ouch.

I'm shocked it didn't come up with a joke about how many casinos we have.

I gotta say, our AI comedian didn't do too bad, although I doubt Comedy Central will be replacing their dais with robots anytime soon.
