Gas Upgrades in Great Falls – Will It Include Paving?
Throughout most of the summer in my alleyway in Great Falls, there were contractors replacing aging gas lines, mains and meters. It may have been happening in your area as well.
I have to say, the subcontractors were great to work with. Even when they discovered they would need to hand dig a 4' wide and 5' deep hole in my lawn.
It's grown back quite nicely, I think. (and yes, I know it is shaggy, Friday is lawn day!) But what hasn't grown back is the pavement just outside my garage in the alley.

Gas Upgrades in Great Falls - Will It Include Paving?
As part of replacing those "vintage" lines, meters and mains, the process required digging in alleyways where the lines branch off from the main to homes and/or garages.
Those graveled areas in the photo above run completely through my alleyway for each of the homes.

Unfortunately, after replacing the lines, I haven't seen one green vest in my neck of the woods for some time. And yet, for several blocks around my area, these graveled spots are still...well, graveled.
And it kind of gravels my backside a tad.
Who Is Responsible for the Repaving of the Alleyways in the Aftermath
I can't say enough about the subcontractors and how accommodating they were. But they're gas guys, not pavement or concrete guys. I can assume this because of the need to have my meter moved. And it involved cutting a chunk of sidewalk out and a repour of concrete:
Hey, it works, and the area doesn't see a lot of foot traffic. But back to my alley. Where are the folks that need to fix the pavement?
Who is going to fix these areas that are already sinking before the snow falls? Especially when they are right next to foundations of buildings:
I keep hoping that there will be a notice posted on my door soon to indicate they will be coming. Until then, I continue to watch holes become bigger holes.
