I Checked Our Great Falls Walmart and Something is Fishy

As my age continues to advance, there are things I look out for and take care of.  Little exercise, trying to sleep enough, yearly physicals and even that thing where you have to drink stuff and then...well, if you know, you know.

One of the things that both myself and my wife try to take care in is our food.  Watching salt levels, greasy or deep-fried items we should probably avoid.  Basic things.  One we don't probably do enough is label reading.  But after a recent trip, I may change that up.

Silly Internet Got Me Again, Great Falls Walmart, Here I Come!

If it's on the internet, it's probably true, right?  And sometimes, it really, really is.  I came across a somewhat viral video series through social media that claimed that some ingredients in the Great Value brand from Walmart might contain some rather odd things.

The ingredients in question?  That would be several different, but let's focus on one of them that stood out like a sore thumb; it was anchovies!  Being the investigative type, I hopped in the car and off to the store I went.  Have to say, I was surprised, but in two different ways.

What Did I Find at Our Local Walmart in Great Falls?

In the videos I watched, two products were most discussed as having weird ingredients.  Syrup and marshmallows.  To the aisles I headed, first for the squishy one.  To my surprise, there weren't any odd things listed.  Was I being bamboozled, again?

Thinking it was a joke, I then headed for the next item to check.  Hitting the syrup isle, I grabbed a random bottle of Great Value and...

Yep!  There it was!  Anchovies!

Now, don't be worried.  There probably isn't any of those "may contain" within the bottle.  But, because the products are processed and bottled in factories that handle other foods, it is more precautionary to warn of allergen possibilities.  Maybe checking those labels isn't such a bad idea!
