Located about 15 miles from Helena, the old west-themed town offered a step back in time. But, after the passing of its builder in 1979, Frontier Town has been through several different owners and has been closed to the public. That could be changing.
Frontier Town - A Quick History of How to Build a Town in Montana
Frontier Town was built by John Quigley and his family, starting in the late 1940's and early 1950's after World War 2.
It would remain in the family until 1994 when it was sold for the first time. The new owner chose to sell much of the history of the town unfortunately.

The new owners are the Hays family from California. Kirby Hays is President and Chief Executive Officer of Hal Hays Construction, Inc., a general engineering contractor based in Riverside, California.
According to the announcement, the Hays family said:
We are happy to introduce ourselves as the new owners of John Quigley’s famed Frontier Town. We run a family-owned construction company in the Southwest United States, and we are preservationists and old souls by nature. We understand the importance of the legacy that we’ve inherited, and we take it very seriously. Since the purchase, the previous owners have been tremendously helpful with our transition, and we’ve also been able to re-connect with the Quigley family. We know it’s an uphill battle, but we are up for the challenge of restoring the heartbeat of Frontier Town, and we are very hopeful about hosting the public in the future.
I'm excited that there is a possibility of Frontier Town making a comeback in the future. Even more exciting is the Hays family is including members of the Quigley family in that future to help maintain the preservation for generations to come.
John Quigley's granddaughter stated:
We have ambitious plans and exciting ideas on the horizon, and we are incredibly enthusiastic about what the future holds. This marks the beginning of a new golden age for Frontier Town!
