It is a little difficult to realize that it is spring in Montana.  I mean, Mother Nature hasn't exactly been consistent in her weather so far in 2026.  But there are signs that spring has definitely sprung, such as the Great Falls Ice Breaker Road Race this past weekend.

And if you weren't in shape for that family fun, now is the time to get to lacing up your running shoes and hit the pavement.  Another huge family run is coming to Helena, Montana, and this time it involves hitting the course at Fort Harrison with the National Guard.

Get in Shape Now to Run the Range with the Montana National Guard

Coming on August 1, 2026, the Montana National Guard will host the annual Devil's Brigade 5k race, known as the "Run the Range" event.  The event is aptly named since it is held at the MNG Devil's Brigade Community Center and range at Fort Harrison.

But this race and event isn't just for military members and family.  This 5k run is open to all military, veterans, families, and civilians to participate and take on the "Range" at the site location.

How to Register and Prizes for This Year's Run the Range 5k Event in Helena

The Devils Brigade 5k Run the Range will have open registration the day of the event at the center at Fort Harrison beginning at 9am.  The official race start will begin at 10am sharp.  To pre-register, visit the MNG social media page here.

The event features timed and fun runs for everyone, and registrants will receive a free t-shirt, an invite to the awards ceremony and a BBQ after the race ends.
