Working Against Crime with the CCSD in Great Falls
If there ever was a double meaning sentence spoken, it probably was something like "How familiar are with our local Sheriff's Office in Cascade County?".
Now, that could mean one of two different things and can also have two different answers.
"More than I care to be" or maybe "Very. They take care of a ton of services within our county."
Hopefully, it isn't that first one for you. And hopefully you do know all of the services that the Cascade County Sheriff's Office/Coroner does perform. But if you don't, you may be surprised at just how much they do behind the scenes.
So Many Hats at the Cascade County Sheriff's Office
Of the many services that the CCSD offer, we should all be familiar with the normal things they do:
- Executing court-issued civil and criminal process
- Providing patrol and investigative functions
- Providing a secure, healthy detention facility
- Providing professional training for personnel
- Maintaining an accurate record-keeping system

- Concealed Weapon Permits - Concealed weapons permits must be authorized and issued by the Sheriff's Office.
- Finger Printing Services - For both adult and the youth detention centers.
- Rural Animal Control - If you live outside the Great Falls city limits and have a concern and/or problem with domestic animals, please contact this office at 406-454-6820.
Staff Shortages Will Create Problems for Residents of Cascade County
Unfortunately, the CCSD is facing some staff shortages coming to one of those divisions. The Records Office will be closing during the lunch hour, 12p-1p beginning on September 23rd, 2024.
